What a School Coordinator Should Actually Ask Before Approving a Co-Curricular Vendor

Most vendor pitches to a school IB or IGCSE coordinator sound the same after the fifth one. Engaging. Confidence-building. Life-changing. None of that is measurable, and coordinators approving a co-curricular partner know it, which is why so many of these decisions come down to which brochure looked the most polished rather than which program actually does what it claims.

The question worth asking a vendor isn't whether they claim to build critical thinking. It's whether anyone outside their own marketing has independently checked the claim. Ivy Spires submitted its benchmarking rubric to HSNC University, and HSNC approved it, which means the assessment architecture behind the Foundation Cohort and Academy programs has been reviewed by an institution with no financial stake in the outcome.

That matters for a specific, practical reason. A school signing on a co-curricular partner is putting its own name behind that partner's claims when it goes in the newsletter or the annual report. If the claims don't hold up, the reputational cost lands on the school, not the vendor. An externally validated rubric shifts that risk before it becomes a problem.

The credential Ivy Spires issues at the end of a cohort isn't a certificate of attendance either. It's a Humanities Transcript, scored against a nine-checkpoint assessment structure across Novice, Intermediate, and Elite levels, the same structure HSNC reviewed. That's the difference worth putting in front of a parent committee: a transcript that means something specific, versus a certificate that means the student showed up.

Schools currently evaluating co-curricular partners for the coming term are welcome to request the HSNC-reviewed rubric directly and compare it against whatever else is on the table.

The Standard is Not Optional.

Ivy Spires is India's exclusive Harvard Debate Council representative. The September cohort is open. Foundation Cohort for Grades 6 and 7, Academy for Grades 8 to 12. Enrol at ivyspires.com.
