The Eleven Reasons

One: the HDC participation certificate is a verifiable, internationally recognised credential available for UCAS October 2026 and Common App December 2026. Two: the written feedback from Harvard alumni judges is the most substantive expert assessment of intellectual performance most students will receive before university. Three: the physiological arousal of competition produces more nervous system evidence per session than any number of practice rounds. Four: the preparation that got them here is already valuable — the tournament makes it visible and assessed.

Five: the peers in the confirmed field are the intellectual community the student is joining. Six: three days of August 28–30 are three days of non-outsourceable cognitive practice in the most concentrated form available. Seven: the written feedback arrives in time to inform the next preparation cycle. Eight: Best Speaker and Best School are earned in the room, not predicted by reputation. Nine: competing publicly changes the relationship with public intellectual performance permanently. Ten: the HDC credential is the first of what can become a sustained competitive record.
